Howdy, friends, This token came in a bunch of loose foreign coins and I am not finding anything on it. Any ideas?
I put this into Goggle Lens and it suggests that it could be a late 1800s coin that was smoothed down and modified... otherwise I have no idea.
That's all I've come up with as well. I thought maybe some sort of custom made birth token with initials and a stork?
That's as good a theory as any I've got. Dunno? Interesting piece, though. Young Head Vickie, so perhaps 1840s-1850s vintage, unless it's a later piece mimicking an earlier type.
My thought was some sort of spielmarke. Germany produced tons of this play money as well as tokens for advertising and businesses. Is it the same size as any contemporary coinage?
The obverse is certainly reminiscent of a lot of spiel marke tokens. I've never seen an incuse punched reverse like that, though. Particularly with the bird punch (which I agree is likely a stork).
This is interesting explaining the stork and some of the initials. https://www.worldofcoins.eu/wiki/SH The Victoria head could be a replica brass Spade Guinea which are quite common here or as said before German Spielmarken or Spielgeld
