This is on a 1917-S Cent. The improper wood grain affect is on both sides of this coin.

I like it because it’s over 100 years old.

 

I really enjoy the wood grain cents. Many years ago we had a member here that has now passed. He had a large collection of them and other Lincolns. I can't get his user name to come up in a search. It was something like @rpmcents or @rlmcents and he went by Richard or Dick.
He had many of these in Red UNCs graded by NGC and PCGS. The grading services did not care for them much and graded them a point or two low. I went searching for some of his images but no luck.
I sold this Matte Proof a while back. Wish I had saved it.

 

That proof you sold is outstanding! I’m sure you miss it in your collection.

 

Actually I miss all of my matte proof collection.

 

I can understand why. For the first time in my life I am starting to sell some of my collection in my antique shop. So far nothing that I’m really fond of, but that’s because I have so much.
