Slabs to look out for that might be worth more than you think

I won't quote you ddddd because the chain of quotes got bumfuzzled somehow but yes, I agree. I have some ANACs and ICG slabs that are undergraded too. The market rules based on the pecking order but thos e old ANACS slabs are fire even on Heritage Auctions if the coin inside is also a real gem. It's a really hard decision on whether or not to try and cross them over at the same or better grade at PCGS. Is it really a win if it succeeds?

I personally would not try to cross most based on the old Anacs premium and the cool old holder. That changes when you get to coins worth several thousand dollars but that is not something I have dealt with (outside of seeing pictures online).

 

It's a shame that the snobs at CAC won't sticker a soapbox holder.

 

One thing that I have read is that they don't trust what might be hidden on the rim (which can't be seen in the old Anacs holders) and that prevents CAC from accepting the soapboxes. The NGC holders have the same issue but JA was there at the beginning and the market generally trusts the holders.

 

CAC will only sticker PCGS and NGC ?

Must be because they won't "make a market" in coins from ICG and ANACs.

 

1927 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle PCGS MS-63 (CAC Gold) OGH (1st Gen) (108x Serial Number) An early 108x serial number, in the first 6000 coins ever graded by PCGS.

Bidding has another week and is at $7,000 w/bp.....a normal MS-63 1927 Saint with a Gold CAC (figure equivalent to an MS-65) would probably be $5,000 or less. So the Gold CAC and early SN holder is adding on 40% -- so far.
