Yes but it would only be for political and economic beliefs not collecting. The only trophy coin I'd buy for collecting joy would be the Ford or Newman CSA half. Since either one would likely go in the millions, it doesn't exactly pose a buying dilemma at the moment.
If I had the money, sure. I do well for myself, and have been fortunate to buy several coins worth a bit of money. If I had more money, I could spend more money. Just buy within your budget and your interests, whatever that might be.
Yes, but only if I could immediately flip it for a profit that made it worth all the upheaval. Spending six figures on any one item isn't something I do, with the sole exception of the house we've been living in for the last 30 years. Not interested in effectively re-mortgaging the house for anything less than a very profitable very sure thing. And since this was sold in a high-profile auction, the chances of my doing that are pretty much zero by definition. If someone wanted it enough to spend $200K or more, they would've just outbid the winner.

The thing is, these sorts of coins are not usually bought by people trying to flip it. They are buying because they are collecting. People with this much money are buying a $183k coin like you and I would buy a $183 coin. They just have a lot more money!
Sounds like something serious collectors might be willing to do and by serious, I mean those with serious amounts of money. As a casual collector, IF I was in the aforementioned group, a coin with historical significance would merit the purchase. I've never been moved by just simply the rarity of something.
I'm not a "serious collector" of anything at the moment, I guess. But even if I do become one, I won't be playing in the six-figure market. Not even five-figure.
Depends on what your goals are, doesn't it? We've all got different goals. This particular individual seems to have the goal of building the all-time finest Walker collection. If your goal is different, this coin isn't for you... If I had hoards of cash, I personally would pay out for a prooflike Walker, Buffalo, and Saint. But my goals aren't your goals.
