I had a significant gift certificate with a dealer for them botching up one of my orders a while back, so I decided to apply it towards this coin. It didn't make it free, but it definitely helped a lot. I have had several graded 2 cents in the past but sadly I've sold them all....So I found myself in need of one again. I just need to get in the habit of not selling them so I don't have to get another one. Feel free to share your 2 cents coins.
Nice use of your certificate. A 2-cent piece is my top US type coin priority right now. I used to have a really lovely RD proof, but that was years ago. I no longer have any good pictures of it. I think it was a CAM, but it was graded before PCGS used the Cameo designation on proof 2-cent pieces. For my current type set, I'd love to have another proof of that quality, but couldn't afford one now. I'll have to settle for an MS coin.
I have not had a Proof Two Cent Pieces in many years. The last one was when I was a dealer. Here's all I have now. This one is graded MS-65, Red in a rattle holder. It's getting darker, which is why I don't like "red." This Small Motto is in an MS-64, R&B holder. And this one is a raw EF. I bought it circa 1980 when the coin market was completely crazy with the Wall Street types paying stupid prices. I took care of my collecting urges by assembling a set of Two Cent Pieces in EF. This is the only leftover. After the 1864 and '65 Two Centers, they are harded to find in EF than you might think.
