Very few people can afford to collect 39-O's by variety or die state... so I was lucky to get a very interesting Terminal Die State (shattered die) of GR-1. PCGS EF-40.

 

So this is what a 39-O struck from terminal dies looks like - Very interesting. It's in a more advanced state than mine, I think.

 

My coin was graded EF-45 by the ANA.

 

I was thinking AU-50. A 45 seems low to me but nevertheless a very nice coin.

I've seen a couple coins more advanced than mine, but that's it.

I think that is very conservatively graded... but at this point, I'd hate to crack that old holder for the upgrade!

 

It looks great in that old holder.

 

I sent a lot of coins to Great Collections that were in old holders. I had ask for PCGS to crack them and grade. GC contacted me and talked me out of it. They were seeing them bring strong prices. They were right and the coins did really well. I'm glad GC talked me out of cracking them out. I saved a lot on grading fees.
