Anyone buying? 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set

The gold one is nice but the silver metal is a hard pass. The reverse looks amateurish.

 

The coin has probably passed down from one generation to another. It’s doubtful that a non collector would have acquired a 1907 High Relief back then. I have read that the coin sold for a premium over face value almost from the day it was issued.

 

From what Ive read, this is not good, especially when you paid for overnight shipping.

Yes, they were a super-hot item as you probably know. Price popped to $35 for pristine MCMVII's in early-1908 since so many were controlled by the sub-Treasuries and high-end banks.

But the price fell over time....by the early-1920's they could be had for $25 or even less.

 

From $35 in 1908 to $25 in the 1920s. Typical for modern junk.
