There has been a lot of them over the years. The 1792 half disme is exception - don't recall see the pattern nickel, and just all of eduard's collection - not just his early copper. But one coin I always really liked was leadfoots chain cent. You can see it is this thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-oldest-u-s-coin.200614/page-2 here. Plus it has some of Eduard's early copper.
@johnmilton If at all possible I'd love to see that. I had the privilege of holding one at a dealers table at Coinfest (2010).That is one major hunk of coin real-estate..
Okay. This is graded PCGS MS-64, CAC. But the round one, which is scarcer, is graded NGC MS-64 CAC, and it's better. Here is a virtual view of the Pan Pac set in one of the boxes of issue. Everything in the box is graded MS-64 except for the $2.50 which is an MS-66.
Thank you. They are the best I have. They don't get any tougher for me. I'm not in the Harry Bass class of collectors. The U.S. type set was my guide post. I have other sets, but that was the core. When it comes to what the mint is selling now, I just throw up my hands. That latest Coin World reported that they now have a 25th anniversary 9/11 privy marked half dollar. The mintage limited to 2,983, the number who were killed at the World Trade Center. I'll be nice, and simply say, "I'll pass."
I don't remember what I posted. Also, PCGS now gives me an error message when I enter the slab # of the pattern nickel.
