I have allot of coins with that little green bean sticker attached and back before CAC had there own label you would expect to pay a big premium but is that really the case anymore ? my LCS thats the guy i buy 90 percent of my coins and has been in the business for 40 plus years so i trust his opinion he says not really sure depending on the coin but when you compare apples to apples your only looking at getting back maybe 3 percent, anybody else have any thoughts on values of CAC stickered coins ?
It depends on the coin, but generally there is a sizeable premium for CAC stickered coins. Interestingly, it seems that most prefer an CAC stickered PCGS/NGC coin, over a CACG coin. CACG is still new though, so we'll have to see what the future holds.
I asked a large dealer at the last show I attended if they charged a premium for green beans. He said, "Yeah, usually about 10 percent"
When CAC was a positive addition yes, it was an added value at that time. Now CAC/CAC is a joke in my opinion and not relevant to added value at all. I stay away from them.
With coins of higher value the bean is still important. The higher the value the more important it becomes. There are many that won't buy a coin without a bean. It's not a must for me but it's nice to have.
as others have said, CAC sticker is still a premium on almost every coin. I think its beyond 10% on many series now. I would actually be interested in seeing data where there is either no premium, or a negative premium, but I doubt anyone can point to that beyond a single outlier example.
Who grants or denies *their* bean for CAC graded coins? Yeah I know it's a troll question. So what? CAC doesn't put beans on their own graded/ stabbed coins I hope?
I think that's what CAC believes their marketing program is leading people to believe. I'm not knocking CAC, but let's face it, they are in the business to make money.
Technically, they do. Supposedly, they (CACG) grade coins at the same standard that warrants a green (CAC) Bean. That's why every coin they (CACG) grade has a green bean printed on the label.
Lack of credibility in the long run. Just my opinion. We all have them. You shouldn't play both sides of the street without losing confidence.
Correct, even problem coins have a label with a green CAC bean on it. Sorry, but that‘s more than misleading.
One of the few cases where a CAC stickered coin sells for less is an old holder that had no sticker and looked under graded. People bid it up thinking it could get a gold sticker or a big upgrade. When it comes back with a green sticker and is auctioned again, it tends not to bring as much because people no longer think it is under graded. In general, if you have a coin with a sticker and another coin without a sticker (and there is no holder variance), the stickered one will sell for more. There are a few people that I have seen offering $70-$90 for any coin that has a CAC sticker. So you could have a coin that sells for $20 (like a low MS wheat cent) become a $70 coin because of the sticker.
