Here is a real classic with none other than Stonewall Jackson on it. Kind of odd that the reverse is blank when lower denomination notes had a busy design on the reverse. But that's how they made them. The only downside is that whomever cut this by hand in 1864 did cut a little bit messy in the bottom annd some of the border design is missing, but other than that this one is as good as you are bound to see out there. But that's the nature of the beast when you have notes being hand cut, hand signed, and serial numbers hand stamped. You get ink blotches, occasional crooked cutting, ocasional poorly applied serial numbers, etc. The upside, it's got great color, the signatures are strong and not faded, and the bleed through is not bad, and the note is fairly free of stains or other major eyesores. Feel free to post anything you think relevant.
That’s a great looking note. And it’s has a solid grade. Congrats for buying it. I have a T-64 note but no photos.
Back then, they really didnt care how str9ght the cut was, fractional notes are a good example of a un steady hand
They didn’t have cutting machines like we have today. All done by hand. I have perfect cuts, close cuts and I have some bad cuts. Just depends on what they had going on at the time.
