TC, do you know if CAC or JA have said what % of CAC stickers are gold ? Is it 5% or 1% or even less ?
Thanks for the show report. I do hope you will remember to tell your primary doctor you took a fall; if nothing else it is one way to make sure there are no underlying problems or results from the fall. I took a fall moving trash cans but didn't know i cracked my tailbone for a couple months. Good luck in the future and happy collecting. james
Here is a good thread from a few years ago. As of the end of 2024, the calculation was ~1.5% of all CAC stickers were gold. And in general it was 43% of coins sent in received any kind of sticker (that number should not be generalized to all coins though since many people tend to send in coins they think should sticker; so the actual total potential stickerable population is likely well under 43%). https://forums.collectors.com/discu...ac-gold-green-sticker-rates-across-all-series
Thanks, great info DDDDD. I recall an article quoting JA that for a particular Saint year -- I think it was 1922 but don't quote me -- the available supply of coins in a high grade was very low so the sticker rate was pretty decent. But for the 1924 where you have hundreds of thousands, not so.
The % of coins that come back has a lot to do with who is picking the coins to send to CAC. My picks did OK but when I let Great Collections pick, the results were much better. I started letting GC take care of that.
LD, what made you submit what you did ? Did you think a coin was clearly under-graded ? Or did you think for the grade it had really good luster...eye appeal...or something else ?
I can't make heads-or-tails out of the CAC Population Report I see 2 numbers with a colon between them for most of the data set. I see no drop arrow for Green CAC vs. Gold CAC. Anybody able to translate ? https://www.cacgrading.com/pop/all/173
On my phone, if I tap on X : Y, it says X stickered, Y graded. And the pop-up shows the number of gold stickers separately. Edit to clarify: that X is apparently a count of only green beans.
