    Prompted by @johnmilton mention of the 1792 ½ Dime, I quickly found out they are 5 figure coins even holed... That lead to this...

    These are probably the earliest coins that are easily affordable, a window into the world of the US before the civil war - which did away with all the small silver for ever.
