Well… The old back seems short lived on concrete floors these days…. But I did brew up a love affair with this old large cent. Just loved the strike on this one. And found an old holey reale for @lordmarcovan holey hat.

Nice looking cent, minimal wear on top of a great strike, can't beat it! :cigar:

Wow, that’s not exactly a small space, either!

Nice grab, Randy. i’m envious, since I am presently lacking a Braided Hair large cent type coin in my current collection. My past best of the type was also a PCGS MS63 BN like yours:

Thanks in advance for the holey for my hat. upload_2026-9-18_15-13-25.png

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Where was this show? Was this the one in Camden?

I saw a couple of emails from the SCNA about it, but it was too far of a drive for me.

Love how the camera captured a lady in mid-hair flip pose. One could imagine instead that she was stressed, and clutching her hands to her head. That, or there’s a 1913 Liberty nickel, an 1804 dollar, and an MS66 Chain cent in the case there, and she’s just reacting in amazement. :p

    Sweet pick up, Randy!

You made me look at my registry set to see what I have filling that hole. I have an 1850 in this type.

The hall was starting to get warm about that time. I would suspect she was probably about to tie her hair up on her head..... Though it does leave one to wonder....

Great strikes are my deal. I couldn't care less about die pairings or VAM's and have little regard for rare dates. But a solid crisply struck piece with flat fields will draw me in every time.

Nice large cent. Hope it didn't break the bank. Thought you were a seated guy? I bought my first Capped bust quarter today, a bit out of my realm.

I’m not in tune to large cent prices. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked it up on PCGS and saw that I paid $125.00 less than they valued the piece at.
