Here’s my 2008-P James Madison obverse struck through. Graded by NGC as a MS-68 and noted on the slab that’s it’s from a Special Mint Set. He got it in the forehead. I bought this in mid August of 2019.

Pulled the last 90 days of eBay solds on this one to see what a struck through actually does to a Presidential dollar, and the answer was not what I expected. Typed the way you'd say it out loud, "presidential dollar struck through error" returns 2 sold listings in 90 days, $3.99 and $12.99. Basically an empty page. Widen it to "presidential dollar mint error NGC" and you get 25 sales, median $35, range $4.95 to $199.99. But every single one of those 25 is missing edge lettering or a doubled edge letter. Not one struck through in the whole run. The closest direct comp anywhere in the data is a Madison reverse struck thru in an NGC MS64 holder, sold Sep 4 for $6.95. Now run the same error on a different host coin. "struck through error NGC dollar" gives 14 sales, median $189, and they are all classic silver: 1878-CC Morgan MS64 struck through $1,025 on Aug 24, 1877 Trade Dollar AU58 obverse and reverse $923 on Jul 26, 1883-CC MS63 $549 on Aug 22, 1921-P MS63 $125 on Aug 30. So the error is not what gets priced, the host is. A struck through buys four figures of attention on a Morgan and about seven dollars on modern clad. Which says the money in yours is not in the strike through at all, it is in the MS-68 and the Special Mint Set notation on the label. That is a registry buyer, not an error buyer, and the two search completely different words. Not saying sell it, the forehead hit is a great look and you clearly did not buy it for the money in 2019. Just figured you'd want the number the market is actually using.
