Ups and Downs (!) At FUN 2026

I kind of like having side-by-side the two reverses in their holders showing off their luster. Both Double Eagles are really beautiful, and not just the obverses.

Some of you may have picked up on this.....I purchased an 1898-S LH DE, not 1893-S.

That's a typo, as the pictures clearly showed. Sorry for any confusion.

 

They're still on my desk 7+ months later !!!

Hey, took a LONG time for me to save up the $$$....gonna enjoy them. Easy to hide 2 thin coins, too, when I go out for dinner or if I'm away for a few days.

Are those professional shots ? Notice how the photographer was able to get crystal-clear BOTH the label wording and the coins.

The mistake I made was using the label as my focal point....I got the words super-sharp but then the coins were SLIGHTLY blurry. Now I focus on the words on the COINS not the label.

Different distance and depth, I guess, when taking pics at close-range.

 

Jeff, I'm so basic with taking pics I just use the default options on my S24. The Green Bankers Light to the right of the coins seems to work OK and not give me glare.

I have one...but bracing my hand up against the edge of the desk also seems to stabilize. If I used the mount (a mini-mount), I'd probably use the camera's delay function so my taking the picture didn't move the camera.

 

Just think, in 4 months or so you can go find some more to keep them company.
I'm going to book my trip for the January FUN show the next few days.

 

I'm hoping my consulting on a couple of estates is finished by then and my hard work is rewarded by something other than a Fred G. Sanford Special....Big Smile and a Firm Handshake.

Haven't found my 1908 NM Saint with all the pedigrees yet but even if I bought it pre-FUN I would still go down.

Just gonna request a room with extra pillows.

 

This show will be a bit different from the past. I won't have the worry of bringing any coins to the show. As a normal I bring coins for imaging, grading and auction submission. None of that for this next show. I don't really trust the safes in the hotel rooms and I won't have to deal with the airport security.

You can't go wrong with @messydesk I don't know anyone that works a show as hard as he does. On top of that if you have questions about VAMs, he is the best.

 

FUN 2026 Attendees.....do you recall if there were any/lots of Gold CAC Double Eagles or even just Gold CAC coins in general ?

I got so discombobulated between the injury and then the hectic nature of trying to find my Wishlist coins that I forgot to mentally tabulate if there were plenty of them, a few of them, or hardly any.

They're a pretty hot item right now as I understand.

Tough to recall now some 8 months later.

 

I think I spent some time at JJT but not sure about the other two.

I can't recall if I saw even 1 Gold CAC DE. Probably saw Gold CACs in coins I have no interest in.
