American Buffalo 2026 Anniversary 1/10 Oz Gold Coin

These are coming out 12/10/2026 and I'm gonna try to get as many as I can, with a HHL of 1, I'll ask everyone I know and trust to get one for me. Anyone else plan on getting one?

I was wondering when they would issue one of these again, hopefully I'll get one and hopefully the mintage isn't astronomical! If I don't get one, I'll be okay!

 

I was stupid and sold my set years ago and still regret it, I didn't think they would ever make anymore fractionals.

 

We keep our gold bullion, rounds, coins, and fractional in a bank safe deposit box and check on them or add to it periodically for our granddaughters.

 

I think I’ll stand in line for one of these to add to the other 2026 coins I’ve picked up for the granddaughters birth year set.

 

Oh that's tempting, I may have to set aside money to get one of those. First fractional gold buffalo since 2008 (that prior to this was the only year they minted any). I've always said they should mint fractionals of those again, because the market's clearly there, based on what the secondary market is for the only year they've minted them so far.

 

Too bad they didn't come out with a 1/10 oz platinum eagle

 

I'm excited. I skipped the initial 2008 examples from the mint (was not paying as much attention back then). I did pick up a few 2008s over the years but sold them to pursue other coins. Now with their continued popularity and higher gold prices, the 2008s are in the 900-1k range so the 2026s, even with current mint prices, should be less expensive if they follow the prices of the Eagles ($605 for the 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle).

 

One of these days I want to work on that series.

 

They ever make a fractional palladium coin I'm so buying that right away lol.

 

Probably just the lighting. Platinum is not very reactive. Anything that can tone a platinum coin probably isn't healthy to be around!

 

(1) Why aren't these made every year ? No demand, or priority for AGEs for 1/10th ounce ?

(2) Are they being bought for the most part by COLLECTORS who want all the gold Buffalos that year....or by people who find them more affordable given the price of gold (esp. the last few years) ?

(3) If gold is $4,500/oz...what are you looking at price-wise for a coin direct from the Mint ? What about PF70's and PF69's, price-wise ?

 

Wow...so 2008 is the ONLY year these 1/10th ouncers were struck ?

I wonder now with gold going much higher over the 2000-23 price level....if you strike these and other fractionals every year or at least periodically because $5,000 for an ounce of gold is out of some people's reach for regular or even occasional purchase ?

 

I guess that the number of collectors for the white metals group are small that they feared that there wouldn't be sufficient demand to make it worthwhile and they'd be melted down.

Anybody who is a collector of the white metals probably is able to or will find a way to ante up for a full ounce.

 

Wow....that's some premium for the 2008's....will be interesting to see if the Mint prices the Buffalo 1/10ths off the secondary market for a single coin or uses the current market price of gold.

 

~It is unclear why the mint has not made any since 2008. It could be prioritizing other coins (like the Eagles). There is definitely demand but that demand would likely fall off if it became an annual series (just like we have seen decreasing sales for other series).

~The 2008 1/10 is more affordable than any other Buffalo gold but at over 2x current spot, it is not a gold play. I believe it is mainly collectors driving the demand.

~The 1/10 oz proof Gold Eagle was $605 (currently unavailable) so I imagine the Buffalo will be around the same price.
