    When I see coins such as these, my mind immediately drifts to Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery, but I hazard that never a coin such as these touched Mandan or Clatsop hands....

    Wow, that's impressive. The first things that caught my eye were the crisp-looking Classic Heads. Then the sharper early Matron Heads. Only belatedly did I look at the Draped Bust coins, which are actually my favorite LC type.

    LOL. Ya think? :rolleyes:

    Edit to add: I have had the privilege of holding in my hot little hand a condition-census 1793 Chain cent in Gem Mint State once, at a show. I think it was MS66 BN, if I remember correctly. Wasn't a Red coin, of course.

    Sure. I've heard of a few folks up North digging Chain cents, but such stories are always interesting. So share away. I don't think @Coinslave87 would mind that slight diversion within his post, since it's on topic with the whole early copper theme?

    Wow. From the cheesy thumbnail image on that video, I initially thought "oh, this is gonna be some fake nonsense", but when I watched it, I could tell it was for real. I've dug enough early copper out of the ground to know what they look like when they first come up.

    That's not a Chain cent, though. It's a Wreath cent. But still... imagine digging ANY 1793 cent, especially one as sharp as that. I say again... wow.

    We now return to @Coinslave87's original topic. ;)
