    fretboard Defender of Old Coinage!

Never have I ever come across such a circulated coin, I've had it for so long I forgot where I got it from! Wish there was a contest for most worn silver coin, I think I'd win it, any comments are these worth anything, other than the price of silver? It doesn't look like natural coin wear, that's for sure! What you think, feel free to post one if you have one!

I had a holey Seated dollar in that grade (1841- the date was still barely readable). Alas, no longer have any pics.

Mine is a STD Quarter. It was a gift from my Oma and is a very important coin to me.

I don't know about that Barber. Might be damage rather than wear.
It seems to have some rather deep parallel scratches, like it was sanded. Perhaps to be used as a shim. Possibly to level furniture? All done 100+ years ago.

Because there is no readable date, it's not gradeable. If the date could be determined, it would have value to a lowball collector. In this case only melt value unless someone wants it for the novelty factor. It doesn't look natural to me either. Lots of Barber coins were worn slick in commerce.

I think my lowest with a readable date is this Canada 1929 25c. There's too much detail left on the obverse to get a super low grade though. I also have one or two slick dateless Buffalo nickels pulled from circulation in a box somewhere...
