Lowest Serial Number You Have ? Seen ?

When this came up in a USA auction I still thought there was no way I would be the successful bidder:

This note is significant as it was also the last issue of the British Linen Bank in Scotland before the bank was absorbed by Bank of Scotland later that summer. Usually the 1st SN goes to the bank's archives or a significant figure in the business.



And because it was not in an Edinburgh or London auction it went for what I believe is a pittance. At one time I owned the highest reported SN on this issue, but since then my high SN has been knocked down a few notches with more recently reported high SN notes.

As I said a few posts back....for U.S. Currency at least, it's the low or ultra-low SN that drives the value more than condition, unless maybe you can get the condition to PMG-69 or 70. You have the highest valued SN possible (000001) so if a more valuable (higher priced) bill exists, I take it it must still be super-low SN but 67, 68, or 69 graded ?

 

Just recently found a 2021 $5 bill with serial #QE 00003485 B. Not as impressive as other notes in this thread, but for $5, felt worth saving, until I find anything lower. Still the lowest serial number I've found in circulation so far. Bill is just barely circulated.

 

My uncle use to drive for an armored car company years ago, he said that he heard rumors of guards going through the cash bags on new deliveries as long as the amounts were correct there was no problem. i will have to check and see if there still hiring...LOL
