One of the neighbors decided to have chickens. This is in the middle of the city. I could sacrifice one of them without much care. Get a good meal out of it too.
Psst! Hey, @Nyatii - you might wanna watch the giveaway store thread for new additions later today. Just sayin’… Stay tuned!
Make sure its not a really old one. As a kid my grandmother lived about two blocks from a chicken processing facility. I was about 10 and one day when I was spending a day or two with her, we had one appear in the yard. Well, my grandma was super old school and as a kid for sure she caught, plucked and cooked them. So we got it, I helped get it merked by it's neck, we plucked and cooked it. And it was old and tough and not tasting good and my grandma who wouldn't even waste anything if she could help it made me something like cookies or a sandwich to eat, threw out that bird and the next evening we walked to the store and bought one of those pre-done barbeque chickens.
Now that is really something when a grandparent tosses meat out like that. It must have been really bad. They were a generation that wasted nothing.
yeah she was about 80 at that time, she had been born in 1885 so she was born in a time where travel was road or water... and no refridgeration, etc.
she decided that old tough meat was not worth it and any other chickens that might escape could still have their lives.. but I can imagine a time where that would not have been the case for her.
