    Giveaway Lot #260123-01

(LOT: 4 coins) United States: four silver Washington quarters (1934, 1951, 1955, 1958-D)
    01-frame.png

Numista-54. This is an average circulated lot of 90% silver Washington quarters. Each contains .1808 Troy ounces of silver, so there is .7232 ounces of bullion in this lot.

The dates here are 1934, 1951, 1955, and 1958-D. As is typical, the earliest coin is in quite low grade while the latest coin in the batch is in higher grade.

Sourced from various bulk silver lots.

    Numista-43, Krause-Mishler-201.

A lustrous and beautiful 1999 Lincoln cent in an old small ANACS "soap bar" holder. Not only is it a Gem Mint State example with full mint Red (MS66 RD), but it also features a dramatic off-center strike error.

    Giveaway Lot #260204-02

United States (NY/CT): 1863 bronze Civil War Token; Indian Head/"IOU"
    01-frame.png

This token was reportedly used for a steamship line which traveled between Norwich, Connecticut and New York City via Long Island Sound. There were two elegant ships: the City of New York and The City of Boston. The die sinker, L. ROLOFF, was at 1 New Chambers Street in New York City.

According to @johnmilton, this token's catalog variety number is CT 345 aA-1a. It is a common, R-1 token. (Thanks to him for providing that and the rest of the information here.).

It is a bit larger than the usual small cent-sized Civil War tokens, being closer to the diameter of a nickel.
Note the interesting die break connecting the stars on the obverse.

Ex-B&R Coins & Currency, Table #722 at the 2026 FUN show in Orlando, Florida, 10 January 2026.

A Roman silver denarius of Lucilla (b. ca. 148-150 AD, d. 182 AD). She was the wife of the emperor Lucius Verus, who ruled from 161-169 AD. She was killed by command of her brother, the later emperor Commodus, in 182 AD, after being implicated in a failed conspiracy to assassinate him.

Obverse: bust of Lucilla, facing right.

Reverse: Juno Lucina seated, facing left.

    18.2 mm, 2.76 g.

    Giveaway Lot #260905-01

Great Britain: 1816 silver "Bullhead" shilling of George III

    01-frame.png

Numista-8476. This short-lived type was minted from 1816 to 1820, after a coinage reform in 1816 that was intended to make the coins easier to mass-produce and alleviate the coin shortage that had plagued Britain for nearly half a century. Nicknamed the "Bullhead" type, this neoclassical portrait of George III was designed by the famous Italian sculptor Benedetto Pistrucci. Popular numismatic legend had it that King George hated the design and ordered it stopped, but that turns out to have been a myth.

While certainly well-worn, this is a wholesome lower grade example with no major distractions, and a light Circulation Cameo ("CircCam") appearance in contrasting greys.

    Giveaway Lot #260906-01

United States: 1847 copper Braided Hair large cent
    01-frame.png

Numista-982. This 1847 Braided Hair large cent has sharp details; I'd say about XF or so. It does have some deposits on the reverse. Maybe those could be removed with a bamboo skewer or similar treatment, and maybe not. I gave the coin a light rub with Renaissance Wax but otherwise did not attempt any further conservation.

United States: 1853 copper Braided Hair large cent
    01-frame.png

Numista-982. This 1853 Braided Hair large cent has reasonably decent details. The surfaces aren't perfect, but they're not terrible, either.

United States: 1857 Flying Eagle cent
    01-frame.png

Numista-14014. This is a reasonably wholesome circulated example of the short-lived (1856-1858) Flying Eagle cent. The eagle's head was not always fully struck on these, but this example has the bird's eye clearly visible.

United States: 1865 bronze 2-cent piece, "Fancy 5" variety
    01-frame.png

Numista-2296. A pleasing, lightly circulated 2-cent piece. This coin is of the so-called "Fancy 5" variety, which is determined by a slight rounded indentation at the right hand side of the top of the numeral 5 in the date.

    Giveaway Lot #260906-06

    United States: 1868 copper-nickel 3-cent piece
    01-frame.png

Numista-5336. A lower grade but wholesome example of the copper-nickel 3-cent piece, also referred to as a "three-cent nickel". Struck from 1865 to 1889, these copper-nickel 3-cent pieces with a Liberty Head design overlapped somewhat with the earlier and smaller silver 3-cent piece with a six-pointed star design, which was struck from 1851 to 1872. It must have been interesting and perhaps a bit odd to have two different types of 3-cent coins in circulation at the same time.

United States: 1849 silver Seated Liberty dime

    Giveaway Lot #260906-08

(LOT: 2 coins) United States: 1903 bronze Indian cent plus 1891 silver Seated Liberty dime

Coin #1 of 2: United States: 1903 bronze Indian cent

    01-frame.png

Numista-2356. This is a common later date but high grade example of the Indian Head cent struck in bronze from 1864 to 1909. I'd call this coin Choice XF (Extremely Fine+), personally, and near the borderline with the AU (About Uncirculated) grade. It looks better in hand than in these photos.

    01-frame.png 02-obv.png 03-rev.png

Coin #2 of 2: United States: 1891 silver Seated Liberty dime
    01-frame.png

Numista-317075. This coin is a Seated Liberty dime of the Legend Obverse subtype, and struck in the final year of issue. The Seated Liberty dime was replaced by the Barber dime in 1892. This coin has strong Very Fine details but does have some damage which appears to have been caused by counting machinery. (To make up for that, I decided to pair it with the Indian cent above, into a two-coin lot.)

    01-frame.png 02-obv.png 03-rev.png

Both coins donated to the giveaway store by @Eric Babula, 19 May 2026.

    01-frame.png

    Numista-908.

    NGC cert. #1568109-011.

A full Red Gem Mint State example of the Lincoln Wheat cent, certified MS66 RD by NGC. This coin is also pedigreed to the
Omaha Bank Hoard. This was a tricky coin to photograph and my images do not properly show the luster, so I’ve uploaded a supplemental low-resolution animated GIF.

    Giveaway Lot #260907-01

Crusader States: ca. 1163-1201 AD silver "helmet" denier of Bohemond III of Antioch
    01-frame.png

Numista-55126 (Class C or similar variant). A medieval "helmet" denier of Bohemond III, Prince of the Crusader State of Antioch. He was also known as "Bohemond the Child" or "Bohemond the Stutterer". Hand-hammered in debased silver, or perhaps more technically billon.

Obverse: Mailed and helmeted bust left; crescent left, star right.

Reverse: Cross pattée; crescent in one quarter.

    Diameter: 18 mm. Weight: 0.89 g.

There is an interesting CoinTalk discussion thread about these coins here.

    Giveaway Lot #260907-02

(LOT: 7 coins) United States: seven copper-nickel Jefferson nickels, 1946-1955, all Brilliant Uncirculated
    01-obv.png

Numista-44. This seven-coin lot consists of Jefferson nickels from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s, all Brilliant Uncirculated. The coins have nice luster which does not come through in these subpar photos. Some have subtle champagne-gold toning.

The dates are: 1946-D, 1946-S, 1947-D, 1953, 1953-D, 1954-S, and 1955-D. I removed the coins from the previous staple-type 2x2 holders they were in so I could photograph them (very poorly). They have been put in Guardhouse safety flips. The original holder on the 1946-S stated it has a "lamination error", but I didn't notice that, so it must be subtle. That, or I just didn't look closely enough.

I think this lot was from @Eric Babula, along with the other coins he donated back on 19 May 2026, but I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t recall the specifics.

    Giveaway Lot #260908-01

India (Vijayanagara Empire): ca. 1336-1646 gold bele (1/10 fanam) "World's Smallest Gold Coin", ICG certified
    01-frame.png

    Numista-67603.
This is a gold bele, or 1/10 fanam. Even a full fanam is tiny, but these gold beles are extremely tiny! This gold “coin” of the Vijayanagara Empire, an Indian Hindu dynasty (1336-1646), is no larger than a sesame seed!

It is certified and encapsulated as genuine by ICG and described as "The World's Smallest Gold Coin". They assigned it
the serial number 89583301133. If you copy that number onto your clipboard, you can verify the certification here.

There is only a truly tiny speck of gold here, but it's a fun novelty. I can only imagine how impractical these must have been to use in commerce, but I suppose they can't have been worse than the gold dust that miners used during the California gold rush.

(LOT: 46 coins) United States: bronze Lincoln Wheat cents, Red Brilliant Uncirculated (1955-D, 1956-D, 1957, 1957-D)
    01-group lot.png

Numista-908. This 46-coin group lot consists of the leftovers of several partial rolls of full Red Brilliant Uncirculated later-date Wheat cents that I discovered in forgotten tubes at the bottom of one of my desk drawers.

There are four date-and-mint combinations present within this assortment:

    1955-D (12 coins)
    1956-D (12 coins)
    1957-P (10 coins)
    1957-D (12 coins)

    Total: 46 coins.

Some of the 1957-P coins are a tiny bit streaky, but there are some real full Gem beauties in the other bags.
