I went through 3,200 Washington and Adams UNC Denver dollars resulting in about 8 PCGS MS66 grades. 20 MS65 and 2 MS64. Denver is minting friggin crude if you ask me. The high productions that the Mint is working under is causing an overuse of poorly cut dies and it is a real shame! Now Congress has pushed an over-mintage of the 2007 and beyond Sacs to make a political point. Crushes the Sac value going forward but what does Congress care?

Went through a box of halves tonight. Got a PL '65 (really unusual) and my first Walker of this year's searching, a '43.

Edit: When were the first Kennedy proofs offered?

It sounds like you know alot about their operations- are they different in different parts of the country? Because earlier in 2007 I was getting CWI boxes of halves all dated the same that each had 40-50 uncirculated 40% silver halves, as if $1000 face was spread out over 20 to 25 boxes.

1964 was the first year of proofs.
Your PL 1965 may have come from a SMS set (Special Mint Set).
    No proofs in 1965, 1966 and 1967.

I've seen it before where I swear the only explanation is a cashed in $1000 bag (which is possible).

Did you get all those boxes in the same week? It's very rare I've been able to get the same date CWI boxes in separate orders for coins. They roll so much continuously that it just doesn't happen often.

Now smaller operations might only roll halves once or twice a month. So if I get a good order of boxes, I can just back up the truck and quickly place an order for as much cash as I have on hand to get the rest of the boxes with the same date. With CWI, if I get a couple good boxes, there is no chance for me to get the rest of the boxes in that run because they are long gone by the time I even opened them.

I got them all over a 4-week period, and got 8 total. In retrospect, I really should have done as you mentioned, i.e. ordered as many as possible, because after those 4 weeks it was back to boxes with one or two silver halves per box, which were rolled at a different date.

Strangely, since then I've had a different date stamp on the boxes every time I pick them up, so there must be a huge increase in the amount rolled or amount ordered since last year.

Good Lord, won't do that again for a while

Finally decided to order me up a couple of boxes of half dollars...

... got two boxes of beautiful uncirculated 1995 P.

Wonder if I could get 20$ a roll on ebay ;)

You can call around to dealers and ask how much they'll pay for the whole lot.

This is one site I've seen sell BU rolls in bulk. Might not hurt to call them (This is no endorsement as I have never bought or sold from them).

Try to sell them before you just recycle them.

I went through a $500 box of quarters and found nothing. I've gone through 2 $250 boxes of dimes and found 2 silver dimes in each box. I find the most keepers by far with pennies and nickels. My favorite is nickels. You can still find buffalo nickels in boxes of nickels. I've gone through 7 boxes of nickels and found 5 buffalo nickels (2 dateless, 20, 27S, and 37), and 8 silver wartime nickels.

Searched $20 in nickels. Got my first silver ever from roll searching: a 1945-S wartime nickel.
And my first obsolete coinage: a dateless buffalo, which I tossed into the vinegar where I already had one soaking.
    Other notable mentions a 1939, a 1940 and several from the 50's.

I stoped at a bank and got the only roll of halves they had. I found a 1966 half that I would have sworn was a proof. I had to look in my red book to make sure they did not make proofs that year.
This coin is so clean and has such a smooth mirrorlike appearence that it could pass as a proof. The only drawback is a light fingerprint on the obverse.
I'll try and post a pic when I can.

Searched 3 rolls of cents and got a 1919. Also searched $68.50 worth of half dollars and got a 1964.
I hand counted 123 half dollars and dumped them in the coin counter machine at my bank.
The machine counted 120 and ate 3. I got beat for $1.50. The senior teller said "We have to go by what the machine says".

They did make Special Mint Sets in 1966 which were essentially Proofs, so it's possible that you do have one. Don't remember the reason why they wouldn't call them proofs.
