That's the strange thing: no. Nothing official from the Mint even mentions the privy mark, let alone how many there are.

Edit: Actually from one source (Time Magazine) they say the Mint said they made 250,000 of them with the privy mark (as many as they did of the Declaration of Independence quarter).

I just read a piece that said the privy mark dollars were struck on July 4th. How danged cool is that?

Maybe not super-cool for the Mint employees stuck working that day, but I hope they got paid double-time for holiday work!

I was trying to decide whether it was realistic for a single mint to strike 250K coins in one day. With modern mintages in the hundreds of millions or even billions per year, that's a clear "yes".

Hype. It's always hype. Personally I wouldn't pay over face value but give it a few months and they'll pop up in vending and parking machines.

I am after a nice pocket piece, would love to find a privy in a machine. Problem is those that have the pocketbooks to pay for a 67, 68,9 will hoard them in spite, just waiting for the day that opinion no longer matters.

The US Mint struck 1,006,473 Peace Dollars on December 28, 1921.

250,000 in a single day 100+ years later, hold my beer.
