Lowest Serial Number You Have ? Seen ?

Here's one of my lowest. Not pristine but low. I may have it graded for kicks.

Low SN's are increasingly valuable on older notes and special notes (SC, Hawaii, GC).

 

My wife and I have a dollar bill that has 01111012 is that worth anything?

Nah, it only has 3 digits and the "1" appears 5 times but it's nothing special. Maybe someone would value it at $2-$4 or so, excluding the cost of a holder.

 

Serial Numbers < 10: Gonna try and save up or free up some $$$ to possibly get a note with a SN of #00000009 or less. Price SKYROCKETS when you go from low 2-digits (like teens or twenties) to single-digits.

Then....the price for #1 or #2 just seem to go up exponentially. Seems like the price of the Single Digit Club is 3x or 4x most double-digit SN's....then another 2x or 3x to get to #3-#6....then another 3x or 4x to get #2 or #1.

That's for a bill with some other attribute worth collecting, not just "any bill with the low or ultra-low SN."

Not sure I can combine a low-SN or ultra-low SN with a GC or SC....maybe other bill attributes like LGS.

 

I only have this one. Found it in circulation.
Any thoughts on it's value?

 

My lowest note is a Confederate Note from the Civil War. It is the lowest known serial number of all the CSA Notes printed. I have posted it before but the photos are on my other phone. Will post when I get home. The S/N is 2.

That's a GREAT note because the borough of Palisades Park WAS also the home to the famous Palisades Amusement Park, which is a legend to people of age in the 1960's before it closed in 1971.

My father took me there the last or next-to-last weekend it was open in 1971. I won a goldfish on my 1st try (ping pong ball into the bowl game) after he blew a few quarters misfiring on his shots.

My sister-in-law is from the area. It's changed alot over the years and if you can buy a home there or rent there it's super-easy to commute into Manhattan right next to the George Washington Bridge and Fort Lee.

 

I'm gonna say a few hundred dollars but I could be wrong.

A PMG-25 sold for $216 (w/bp) about 3 years ago. 2 others were ungraded but about your condition.

 

Here is my low S/N CSA Note. Graded by PCGS as a VF-35. It’s a $100.00, 1862 Note. Hand numbered and that is normal.

Thanks. It’s very nice. The grade is good, the note does not have pinholes, strong color and 3 interest payment stamps on the back. This note didn’t circulate too much as all the interest payments were made in Augusta, Georgia. It also has a has a signature on the back. I’ve owned it for about 12 years and it costs me just over $2000. Today it’s worth about $10,000. It’s a lovely note.

 

That Palisades Park note is awesome. Not so much for the S/N, as low numbers are much more common with nationals (since there was a small number of notes printed for each bank), but for actually finding one in circulation!

 

I'm debating getting a single-digit SN....but would be my most expensive currency purchase ever and could inhibit my Gold Certificate or 1890's SC acquisitions, plus my (FUN) Double Eagle targets including that elusive 1908 NM Saint.
