Grade this Jefferson 2

Here is the second of the 4 Jeffs I bought Monday. I have started a new Library of coins album.

MS64 6FS if the luster is there a 65, is thelat line on the steps toning?

 

Yes.

 

Looks MS-66 FS to me.

Did you need to down play the luster in the photo a bit to capture the toning?

 

I went with 66 but don't know about the FS.

 

The columns, entrance doors, and windows are faded. The toning and remainder of the coin are nice. MS-60

 

MS-64 but I think the indent through the steps holds it back from FS. Nice rainbow coloring.

 

MS-63 Need to really see it in person as most fit in this way of thinking. Videos help also.

 

I bumped up a 64 to MS 65 based on the nice color. I think it's full steps but the photo was a bit blurry so I did not make a call there.

 

I never knew nickels could have nice toning like that. Very nice!

 

Toning becomes crazy with four ping pong covered led's. I am an original, color, skin type guy, the quality of the coin is the only thing that matters.

I wouldn't have bought this coin as a FS. The Mark diagonal across the steps is only toning.

 

Back in the day, a weak strike always was a demerit. That was before the 80's. Luster nd contact are rewarded much heavier on the grading scale.

 

Hard to even make a decision in hand on the steps. I am in that ballpark.
