OPINIONS WANTED: New Trump Dollar Coins - What are your thoughts?

I have a box of 2026 dimes. Going back to the bank

 

I think it's interesting and I like the idea of dollar coins circulating, but not many people do if you haven't noticed (bank tellers seem to have a special hatred for them). You obviously have to be proud to put yourself on a coin, but I don't really have a huge problem with that, plenty of rulers have done it in the past. Besides coins are supposed to reflect history, right?

I'd like to see one of these in person, mostly because I'm curious about the obverse. What is the highest point? The hair? chin? eye brows? outer ring with incuse lettering? I think it was a nice touch to add 250 to the shield, helps differentiate it a bit from the Kennedy Half Dollar reverse.

 

With how hot politics are these days, I think any president would have ruffled some feathers. I do not think that putting a current president on a coin to commemorate the US would make a top list for marking a special time period. However, if I were to summarize the biggest discussion in America for the past few years, that portrait would probably be a good one. It is kind of like a time capsule. Even still, I think there could have been better designs. Like honoring the lowly turkey for once.

 

I think the reverse is quite nice actually, an existing and popular design with some minor changes. I loved the Sacagawea dollars, they were so nice that I decided to add some moderns to my US type set. Not going to comment on the new obv design though as I don’t want to be banned for life

 

I agree. Our coins should not look angry. The coin would have looked better if he was smiling.

 

I am probably gonna get 2 of them, even though I despise these golden dollars. They are useless and only take up space in vaults across the US. I will buy one for the collection and one for a pocket piece. I really want to know how long it takes for the 250 to wear off the center of the reverse.

Nice. My only complaint is the eagle is crowding the reverse and 250 could be a bit smaller.

 

I've thought about buying a US MINT bag when available.
But I'm thinking more of asking my Credit Union to get a few rolls at face value instead .... to maybe flip on eBay ... otherwise I'll have face value coins just to spend/throw in the back of a safe for ballast.

 

Sick and tired of president's on coinage be they dead or living. The depiction of Liberty is unifying. Presidents, not so much.

 

Sometimes I think the guy on the coin looses sight of the premise this country was founded on.....
