    Alexander the Great
    AR Tetradrachm. 17.4g, 32mm x 25.5mm. Pella mint, late lifetime or early posthumous issue, circa 325-315 BC. Price 245. O: Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. R: AΛEΞAN∆POY, Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle with closed wings; club in left field.

    One of the things I really like about this drachm/tet design is the way in which the entire obverse space is utilized. Bing's drachm is an especially nice demonstration of the way that the die engraver used every bit of that circular space.

    Yes agree, the obverse portrait on that Drachma of Bing is beautifull.

    At the other end of the spectrum is this huge medaillon-like Tet of Philip V of Macedonia.
    comparision for size with a lifetime Tet of Alexander the Great:

    205/204 BC (year “14”)
    Diameter: 32.5 mm
    Weight: 15.52 grams
    Obverse: head of young Heracles right, clad in lion’s skin which knotted at neck
    Reverse: [ΑΛ]ΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ behind Zeus seated left, holding eagle on extended right hand and resting on scepter held in left, ΙΔ (=14) above Φ (= Phaselis) below Zeus’ right arm (Seleucid anchor countermark in left field)

    My only A III is a bronze but its a lifetime issue. Silver will follow eventually.

    Obv.: Head of Herakles right, clad in Nemean Lion scalp headdress tied at neck.
    Rev.: AΛEΞANΔΡOY Zeus enshrined left, throne without back and two leg struts,bright leg forward (archaic lifetime style), eagle in extended right hand, long scepter vertical behind in left hand, TE monogram lower left, concave field
