this is my latest half dollar i won from ebay.
it was advertised as a vg+ but i have my doubts.
can anybody offer an opinion as to grade?
i could only download the obv, because of the size, but the rev is a little better.
    thanks guys.

I am sorry, but that looks like the low end of G to me, wish I could see the Reverse. Of course, that is my opinion seeing a picture of one side of the coin. Does it show better in hand?

Is that part of the L I see on the ribbon?

Sorry, but I think that it is a 'push' Good.

    Yup,

G4 at the best assuming the reverse is nicer and like Treashunt said that's pushing it.

I would say that it borders on a VG-8 (criteria: Rim fairly defined. Some letters in LIBERTY evident.)...especially if the Reverse is as good or better! However, I think that the authenticity may be in question as the coin appears porous as if made in a mold. It could be just the quality of the picture (very low pixels) but the coin has that appearance when the picture is blown up! It wouldn't be an 1866 Half Dollar without the Motto above the Eagle, would it?

Below is the edited picture where I copied and pasted the picture to my PC, added some contrast and cropped it.
