Softly struck as it was, Larry, this a difficult coin to grade properly. Even so, I think I detect an absence of luster atop some of the high spots. I grade it AU58.
That's a really nice piece. The strike is a bit weak and the luster is somewhat subdued. I'm going MS-62
I do believe that I see some light circulation, especially on the reverse. AU58, still a wonderful coin Larry!
I'll just sit back, read, and learn from what you all say. But, I will say this - that is a pretty coin.
I think it looks circulated from the photos and I can't see the luster so I'm guessing AU 50. Cool coin overall!
Thirty something years ago I was hooked on almost any older coin with nice clash marks. I found this one at a local shop for $20. I put it in a fresh 2x2 and graded it AU-50. The first of this year it went to Great Collections. They sent it to PCGS and listed the coin. The bidding went crazy and ended at $1013. Never dreamed it would grade or sell that high. I bought a Flying Eagle cent with clash marks from the same shop. I sold it for over $3000 at auction. Crazy stuff. I almost wish I had kept them both. PCGS gave the 3 cent silver a 62.
I was going to guess AU58 as well, but glad to see it was higher, and not really surprised by that! It's very pretty!
