I am finding the one good thing about getting old. I keep finding cool stuff I didn’t know I had. Was texting back and forth with @lordmarcovan about some coin stuff and drug out an old box and ran across this. No remote clue when or where it came from. It’s like having a new coin without going shopping…… But I really dig the old PCGS holder. If I was to guess, that’s probably why I bought it in the first place.
I think it would grade higher using today’s guidelines but personally, I wouldn’t want to loose the old dive and label. Very nice!
Those are the old Rattler slabs Randy. Your Peace probably doesn't move but most other coins did. I have two Peace in that slab.
Nothing more fun than cherrypicking yourself. I remember finding a flip containing a VG 1875-S 20c piece in a box of non-coin-related stuff (books n’ junk) in the backseat of my car, once. I had no recollection of ever buying it.
I reckon that makes up for some of the other stuff I lost and never found again. Lost a big huge 1797 British “Cartwheel” 2-pence when I moved from NC to GA in 1994, never to be seen again. I always imagined the new owners of my old house finding it in a heating duct in the floor or something, and being astonished. Those are big, chunky coins.
Nice (re)discovery! For those of you with rattlers, check if you have any with a cert number that begins with 108 as those have exploded in value (over $1k for any generic coin and more for better coins plus earlier cert numbers).
