Was mainly going to this one for sake of getting 2 free ANACS submissions (submitted my 1 oz. silver Superman medal, and my 1995-S Olympic baseball commem.). But certainly wanted to look around, as long as I was there. Picked up some Roosevelt dimes I was missing (now have every one from 1956-present) and 2 nice Franklin halves I needed (1958-D and 1963). Randomly found a 1951 2 lira from Vatican City (didn't have any Vatican coins, so why not), a 1989 Constitution bicentennial in a little pouch I never knew it could come in, and just because it caught my eye somehow, a novelty "gold" Lilo & Stitch bill.
Golden, yes, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Definitely smaller than the Denver Coin Expo but it being a little more compact I think actually works in its favor; a lot less walking around to see all the tables. Plus, free parking and free admission; can't beat that. Not much to eat at the venue itself but it's not far from Colorado Mills that has plenty of places to eat. I enjoy these things as much (or more) for being able to "talk shop" with people about coins as actually buying anything. But don't like to leave empty handed lol. Roosevelt dimes, even in mint condition, are pretty cheap and I got those for an average of $5 a piece. Some even had some nice toning on them, even if I was only trying to fill holes in the album. Sorry to hear. It will be held again in January from what I understand. And the next Denver Coin Expo is in October. Something I forgot to mention is that the show handed out a reusable cloth bag, something I wish more shows did, as it made it a lot easier to carry around anything you bought. It's a lot better than having to bring you own bag, hoping the individual dealers had bags to give, or relying on your pockets.
