Put away thy smiting rod, @GDJMSP! No modspank necessary- this thread is Rated G! ;)

I meant "Erotic" literally, as in, "this coin has a portrait of Eros on it".

I have been in inactive "hiatus" mode for most of this year so far.

(To the embarrassing detriment of the "Epic Treasure Hunting Game" I've been running on the Contests forum- my apologies to those players- eventually I will resurrect that from the carbonite it is frozen in).

But my numismatic and forum absence hasn't totally prevented me from peeking out of my hole occasionally and snatching a passing coin or two. This one came from @Ken Dorney last month.

Obverse: Winged bust of Eros right.
Reverse: Nike advancing left holding wreath, date in left field.

A charming coin type, this example with lovely earthen highlights.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for sandy patina and I like Seleucid bronze. I think it packs a lot of bang for the buck, generally speaking. I didn't really "need" this coin, but... well... you know. ;)

I agree with this description. Not all of these even approach this level.

Nice coin with a lot of eye appeal!

I like this type of patina as well when it is natural, which your appears to be (notice how it adheres to the edges of the coin, a detail the fakers often leave out).

Nice coin @lordmarcovan ... I only have a couple Seleukids (Seleukid I's as I collect Alexandrine / Diadochi)

However, instead of EROTIC, I have a few CUPIDIC coins! :D

Lord, that's a very cool Eros obverse ... congrats

I'm kinda surprised that there aren't more coin examples with the Greek god of sexual attraction on 'em.

Wow, it looked like that Memmius denarius said "ENEMIES" at first glance!

I've always liked that Cupid/goat type. Never had one.

LOL, TRUE! Do you know how HARD it is for me to read it being that I am very dyslexic? I saw ENEMIES, ENEMAS, M&M's, MUMMIES, it took me a while, LOL.

I know! My tablet tried to autocorrect to ENEMAS. LOL

Autocorrect will invariably choose the most disturbing similar word.

LOL, with my condition... that is EXACTLY why I turn off auto-correct, siri, and any "helper" from all of my devices and phones. In my experience, I would get an auto-correct, and would not SEE that it was wrong. At least WITHOUT all the "assistance", you get my TRUE typos and mistakes... Or possibly, my TRUE meanings... :D

Agree completely. When autocorrect is on, I'll typically miss my errors when proofreading and the result is sometimes spectacularly embarrassing. So I've turned off autocorrect everywhere on my computer so that the software underlines those words it thinks are incorrect, but doesn't replace them with something idiotic.

This approach only works if you actually bother to proofread your typing, though...
