I've had parcels with printed labels go hither and tither kicking around the east coast of the USA, to the flyover part of the country then back to the east coast and back to flyover country all the while the contents of the parcel melted and were damaged. The parcel travelled from L'viv Ukraine to Warsaw, then to London in a total of four days and thence to customs in New York for a week - then spent two weeks on it's sojourn back and forth through the eastern part of the country before it wound it's way to me. For most parcels from Britain I just use couriers like DHL, FEDEX or UPS.

It's situations such as this that make me feel glad I'm old.....one more thing to stop worrying about. I've worried all my life

And I feel the frustration and pain Barney, not to belittle your situation, my friend.

I sell coins and buy baseball cards and I can say there's been an unusual amount of lost mail the past few months, or late if not lost. These are either eBay standard labels or letter rate, not packages. It's been getting me as both buyer and seller.

Getting on a week now and it just kicks back and forth. I own a stamped cover ie an envelope that travelled across the country in 1902 that took three days to travel from Iowa to San Benito CA - the post office operated in trains back then and for your 3 cents your mail arrived in 2-3 days tops. Amazing over 120 years later and things are actually slowing down!

Fuel cost are out of control and have been for years. USPS came out with Ground Advantage and only Express Mail is shipped by air, otherwise it’s all shipped by ground. Priority Mail is also shipped by ground but it goes first.

I was looking for lost mail at the PO yesterday and had the guy check the surrounding PO boxes because they're always putting stuff in the wrong box. (So comforting when it's a valuable coin, but not this time). He went into a 5 minute dissertation about how USPS processes mail. Said there was a change in effect July 26 where the truck no longer picks up at the end of the day to take to the distribution center. It occurs the next morning instead. Effectively it means the mail will take a day longer now, I think. Just FYI. I doubt if mine ever shows up. The last two times this happened it never did. It's a rent check but at least whoever ends up with it will have a hard time doing anything with it.

The Jacksonville Florida distribution warehouse hub has a bunch of morons working there. I have another coin that's been sitting there for 3 days. It has not moved since it arrived. It takes longer to get it from there to my address than it does coming all the way from California. :muted: I'm pretty certain I know what the problem is, and it's not politically correct to point it out.

My arrived from California. It was shipped on Monday and just arrived today. I’m sure you will receive yours but Florida has always been a trouble spot for USPS.

For me personally, the problems started when DeJoy was installed as postmaster general in May 2020.

Things have only gotten progressively worse and slower since.

I never had a single lost package for 20 years before the May 2020 switch, and have had more than I can even remember since.
