https://www.coinnews.net/2026/07/25/july-4-privy-quarter-prices/ Looks like more are turning up, and prices are falling. As one would expect, I suppose.
I saw a commercial for a show that I can't remember but in it one of the actors line is " He's going to fall faster than a football player in a strip club". LOL.
Man.... I would be happy to find any sequi coins show up in my pocket change. I really wish the mint would have done like the bicentennial. We were getting those in our change soon as the bicentennial began. Only way I was able to see any sequi coins was buying a few off @dwhiz, the generous soul.
Well, 1976 was a different time than 2026. Cash was still heavily used, and the mint spent most of 1975 and early 1976 producing the coins in time for mass releases. 100s of millions of coins hit all at once. Then they finished 1976 making more.
Classic market correction here. The initial hype always drives the prices through the roof, but with 250k minted, supply is finally catching up with demand. Prices falling is actually great news for everyday collectors who just want to add one to their albums without overpaying.
Interesting that that's a bit less than the mintage of the 1916-D dime, and little more than half the mintage of the 1909-S VDB cent. I think that says a lot about the state of coin collecting in 2026 as opposed to most of the 20th century.
The survival rate on the 1916-D Mercury Dime and the 1909-S-VDB Cent make those coins much scarcer than this "lottery thing." You can't compare the two.
