I believe I am correct in that CAC will only accept coins graded by NGC and PCGS. But, will they bean a coin below the grade of VG08?

Although I suspect the coin has to be a key or semi-key.

I thought any slabbed coin could be submitted for the 'CAC' seal of approval ?

So all Morgans and Peace dollars are accepted. That is what I have to decide on.

Last I saw you had to be a member of CAC to submit coins.
And membership is closed at the moment.

If that's correct you'll have to find someone that's a current member and get them to submit the coins for you.

The former is quite correct; I don't know if they're accepting new member applications or not. I_did assist someone recently with a recommendation for their application, though.

So what is the reason that membership would be closed ? You would think they would like more submissions sent to them.

They most likely get enough from dealers. Just a guess.
There membership has been closed for over 3 yrs.

Thanks Dave. You think membership dictates open or closed?

Well how do we find out who's a member and what can be done. I'd certainly like to send several pieces in.

Depending on where you are, there are likely dealers local to you who have submission privileges.

Why bother CAC on a coin that isn't BU or better ??

As per my understanding, it's not only about the grade itself, but also about any possible issues with the coin. This is more important for lower grade coins than for BU coins in my opinion. E.g. Are the surfaces original? Is there a scratch/mark/ding that should have prevented a numeric grade?

I have a 1908-S certified strong AU Double Eagle having a theoretical 5 figure dollar value that I'd like to CAC, but haven't a means. Also have keys, semi-keys of other pre-1933 Type similar <BU coins with same problem. Look at the theoretical value of a strong AU set of $5 Indian coins. These are the condition/type coins that another opinion would be/is desirable.
