I just came across this cent while CRH. I am still quite the novice at this, so I wanted others opinions. I checked variety vista and did not see one that I thought looked similar. I only see the doubling in the 9,7,0, and the S. I'm guessing just really heavy machine doubling, just wanted others opinions. Thanks!
Definitely MD, not to mention there is also some die deterioration. If you see flat and shelflike then it is not a Doubled Die.
Flat and Shelflike doubling is considered worthless doubling. Not related to a true Doubled Die variety unfortunately. Also, the flat and Shelflike appearance to the S mint mark is another indication of worthless doubling because it can't be doubled die because they were hand punched into the die during that time.
