The gold sold out in the first hour but has come back in stock over the last few days from cancellations and/or credit card issues.

If six hundred seventy-one of them "came back in stock", I think it paints kind of a grim picture of sentiment on these.

Not for everyone, though; I see that it's down to 651 just now. I wonder if any of today's buyers pounced on the $100K eBay listing, then backed out when they discovered they could still order from the Mint? :troll:

This… thing, is severely lacking in esthetics. I rank it lower than the worst of the state quarters. It looks more like a sheet cake than a coin or medal.

I just don't care for the design at all. The mint mark placement is odd. Plus, I don't care for the fireworks on the back. It looks like the NCLT coins coming from Palau, Cook Islands, etc. It also looks as though it's in a round capsule. For that price, they could have easily made a bell shaped direct fit capsule.

Totally agree with you, BUT it has full bell lines.

You didn't miss much, Danr. The mint prices were insanely overpriced. It's hilarious seeing flippers on eBay trying to sell the gold version for $100k when the US Mint still has hundreds left in stock for retail! I'd much rather spend that kind of money on actual classic historic coinage. Total pass for me.

To me, it looked like one of the tackier sort of Christmas ornaments. But now I'll be seeing it as a Christmas cookie instead. I think we have Mom's bell-shaped cookie cutter here somewhere...
