I took the pictures at an angle to bring out the toning and colours of this coin. It actually has some reflective surfaces - impossible (for me) to capture with head-on pictures.
Very nice looking piece and you’ve got me wondering where did you get or are getting these nice Seated Liberty coins that you’ve been posting lately? On this piece is a definite EF-45. I think it just misses AU-50 due to the amount of wear on the high spots.
Thank you very much, @Collecting Nut. I live in Europe, and although they don't show up often, U.S coins can be found at shows, Ebay (Europe), and local auctions. You have to be patient. That's where I have found quite a few of the coins in my collection over the years.
You have posted some very nice Seated Liberty coins lately. Most of them seem to key or sent-key dates. Well, at least they have low mintages. You haven’t posted one that I wouldn’t place in my collection. Glad to hear you have the patience for doing what you’re doing. So many collectors want it now. I just bought a Morgan that I’ve been looking for, for 3 to 4 years and it was a long hard wait. One more payment and the coin is mine. I also have a Peace Dollar that I’m looking for and I’ve looked for that about seven or eight years now and still can’t find the one I want. Set a later the one I need will pop up in the great condition I want. I have a complete piece dollar collection, but I need this special coin.
What I really appreciate with that particular piece is the light circulation coupled with very nice original undamaged rims. Another aspect of the piece is that it is from the New Orleans mint - and being from that mint it is fully struck with all design features present - must have been an early strike on the die - New Orleans sometimes let dies get into near terminal states before they retired them. I also like that you are collecting very desirable coins in Europe - a bit of a challenge.
