Hey all. This is "Morning Mania Saturday Edition!". Post your story and if possible, the coin(s) discussed.
I only have one picture right now. I know, Boooo! LOL. They are still in my collection as I struggle some to get them sold again. It's a hoarding addiction. LOL. Just coins mostly.
I do have a good story though. A co-worker and friend told me that he had some coins that his grandfather left him besides a generous inheritance also that he received which included the house he once lived in. He asked if I would be interested in looking at some of the coins. I didn't pause for a big fat, YES! He told me they were in rolls some of them from the 1950's. Some were quarter rolls. some were Benjamin Halves and some Ike's. I was very shocked to realize that they were in MS condition and in original wrappers that he used. Some with possible RPM's! He brought in 10 Quarters, 2 Halves and 2 "Ike" dollars. Once I saw them, I was intrigued. Now, he didn't need the money mind you and I think was just helping out a fellow collector. He then asked if I wanted the coins to buy. I said YES, again. I asked how much for all of them? He said just $5. I said, "well, I have a ten on me. Just keep it. This was 2002 and I have no idea what the silver prices were then, but it didn't matter. The cost fit my budget just fine and dandy. I could have purchased more I suppose but I didn't want to seem be greedy. They were his relatives and this guy had kids also. I figure he could save the rest for them later down the road. ;)
I tell you, good friends are hard to come by, and he was a great friend and co-worker. The company folded sometime after and we lost contact. I'll always be grateful for his generosity and friendship. :)
My second story happened at the same company. Another guy was selling a coin he said was right up my alley so to speak. It was this coin and he only wanted $10! I loved it and said yes. Again, not sure what silver was back then but I'm sure it was a decent deal and investment. ;) He was mostly into Civil War tokens anyways. :D
Here's what I call the Metal Detecting coin as I call it. 1 oz. of silver.
If you have a crazy story and or Pics, please do post. In the meantime, I'll try to track down some of the coins I received from him. Thanks.
    Comments and Questions welcome.

I won 8 silver Ikes once in a silver price prediction contest. I still have them too, somewhere.

I'm also quite proud to be greedy in every way possible. I believe, in fact, Darwin demands it and he'll come looking for us if we slack off. :woot:

A friend of mine family had laundries and when his father passed he found rolls of BU walkers and other silver coins.

I don't brag about coins with coworkers and such. I try to be quiet because you never know when somebody may be in a bad way or something...... One day years back I went in to my accountants office and immediately noticed she had a gold dollar and half eagle on her desk so I ask about it. She told me it was an inheritance and she was going to carry them to the "I buy gold" place at lunch for $300.00..... I says well how bout I give you $400.00 and save you the trip? The cool thing was after I imaged the dollar I saw that it had a really cool clash.

Silver was around 4.60 to 5.02 in 2002 - per chatgpt. I had a friend at work who bought some gold coins from a TV ad back in the 90's. He was wanting to sell them ( I don't remember the dates) but some place offered him like 2000 for all the coins. They were NGC graded and I could look up auctions. He offered them to me at a low price - like 2500 - I was like that is still too low. Got down to my LCS and see what they offer. He sold them for like $3600 total. He was one happy guy. So a few years later he returned the favor for me - my father wanted to sell a nice a gun. All the local gun shops were like best we can do is 500 - he told me nope to low (he was big into guns). So he took it to a local gun show - had it sold before he even got in the door for $800 or $900. He said now that is a fair price - so we were both happy.

Now here lately I have had 2 friends call me that know I collect (but not what or have ever seen a coin) call me about what they are hearing on this thing called facebook. :) They have steel cents and a few buffalo nickels and they are being told they are worth hundreds of dollars each I had to basically tell them not true - now if they were uncirculated(explaining not polished and uncirculated:) ) or maybe a special variety it could be - but I would need to see them. One of them told me he looked on ebay and some that looked like his were about a dollar. Then he wanted to know why someone would spend 3 or 4 dollars on shipping for a $1 coin. It was funny.
