The new book came out on July 8th, and my I got it preordered by my mom and I got it as a late birthday present because I asked her to wait until the new one came out. I received it on July 11th, 3 days earlier than was expected. This year it’s the 250th Anniversary edition, as well as Red Book’s 80th edition of the book. There are new sections for all the special 2026 coinage. Is anyone buying this year’s edition of the Red Book?
I literally cannot remember the last Red Book I bought. I've found that all of the information is online (Wikipedia has all the same info), and pricing data is more up to date else-where. The Red-Book just isn't relevant any more... Sorry to it's fans.
Agreed ! its so late many of the values just arent that accurate, monthly publications do a much better job on current values.
(something something buying mushrooms at the grocery store as opposed to going out and picking your own...) All the information is online - and you can find it there, if you know what you're looking for. The advantage of the Red Book is that it's got just information, for the most part, without making you wade through all the disinformation and noise.
I'll stick with my old red book because I'm really not all that interested in modern coins and the older issues provide me all the information I need.
I am still working with my 73rd edition, but it would be nice to get the updates on the moderns on paper. Enjoy!
I got a 2025 edition free with my ANA renewal. It’s probably all I’ll ever need. To me values listed in a book are only useful years later to see how much something used to be.
And I was surprised to find myself making it. I've been an Internet-first lookup guy for many years now. I'm still not convinced it's all going to pot. But for historical, statistical information, where revisions and new discoveries are fairly sparse - yeah, dead trees have their advantages. Great, now I'm going to feel bad for letting go of that 1959 Britannica set from my parents' house. But I still don't know where I would've put it.
I have a complete set from the first edition. Therefore, I keep up with them. This year they issued a book with a cover that is somewhat like the old ones. It's supposed to be a limited edition with 500 copies. Wizzrard Coin Supply was selling them at FUN. There was a big pile, and they mostly disappeared before the end of the show.
I thought about it and I bought a 2027 spiral bound one for under $8.00 brand new. At that price I couldn’t resist. It should be here next week.
