This coin is undated, but it was struck 1535-38.

    Fugger, Grafshaft
    Anton I Fugger 1530-65
    AV Goldgulden ND (1535-37)
    Weissenhorn Mint

    NOTE:
Fugger were a rich merchant Family in the Holy Roman Empire, Jakob Fugger was famous for lending $$$ to finance wars, expenses for Emperors Friedrich III and his son Maximilian I. Here the Emperors had to go cap in hand begging Fugger for goldgulden.
As a reward, Karl V HRE bestowed a fiefdom to Fugger Family, and named it Fugger. Thus on the coins, the Graf was immortalized, along with his overlord the HRE. 1599c69e553c30c445b8e24b1b16c073 (6).jpg

I was a little hesitant posting this coin for 1534, since it actually was minted over a century later, as a commemorative coin marking the Anabaptist take over of Munster in 1534. But I figure this is as good a year to post it, since the commemoratives were minted for several years during the 30 Years War by the Protestants.

This thaler was minted with dies marked with Mint Master Engelbert Ketteler ("K" on the reverse). Others were produced by Mint Master Others were minted by goldsmith J. Potthoff, marked "P". The weights range from 2 thalers to half thaler.

German States, Munster, 'Anabaptist' thaler, 1534 K. 17th century restrike.
