    Hi,
I need to take better resolution pictures of my coins. Right now, I use a Samsung A17, on the highest resolution setting, but the results are just "OK." I don't want to spend more than $100 (as I am not doing this professionally). I am considering a "lens adapter" that clips onto my phone and am considering the Apexel 100mm HD Macro Lens Kit with CPL Filter.

Has anyone used this or any lens adapter for their phone? If so, what has been your experience?

    Thanks!

I tried a cheap lens adapter about 7 years ago, probably with my old iPhone 6. As you can see, only a small area was in focus and it took a lot of fiddling with the lighting and phone to get the area I wanted. The zoomed image was OK for what I needed. I never used it again.

I tried a couple of the adapters for phones and was never happy with the results getting macro images. There was not enough room between the lens and the coin to be able to play with the lighting. It was about the same using adapters with SLR lens. You loose quality when you stack lens.

I think I did better using just the phone only but I was still not happy.
I'm not saying it can't be done but I gave up trying to get by cheap.
A lot of practice with a DSLR with a high quality macro lens was the only way I was able to get what I wanted. Once I got there I was able to crank out great images really fast but it came at a high cost.

This is the quality I wanted.
