I haven't been buying much lately. Not a lot for me to buy to complete a set without busting my bank account. I buy about 1 coin per month, lately just upgrading previous slots. Saw this and got it cheap as an upgrade. 1889-O is known for horribly flat poorly struck coins. It's graded by ICG, looks to me not details and the face is not baggy. I'm always amazed at grades of poorly struck coins and how high they sometimes grade. What does our bully pulpit say? Remember, buy the coin and not the holder they always tell me. :)

I posted this for a reason. If I don't get a public stoning here, I'm going to cross it over to PCGS. :p

Possibly higher, but I can't tell from the pictures.

I know, it's all I have. I just bought it today online. If it grades what it's graded at, I drove it like a stolen vehicle.

A little weakly stuck MS63. Nice coin!

I'll give it a day or two and do the reveal. I know that it won't be market acceptable until I cross it over. I have a couple of exceptional ICG graded coins that I might do that with. It's sad that the market doesn't respect ICG and ANACS. It's the coin inside, not the plastic.

    I'll go with MS-64.

A while back I sent a nice group of ICG coins to GC for auction. I was happy with the results. Some brought more than I thought they would.

I think it's very weakly struck. It's not a great coin. But for what I paid, it was a steal. I do have some fine ICG graded slabs. This one just baffled me, because I can't grade weak strikes. I've seen graded MS64s I wouldn't give the time of day to because of that, that includes PCGS slabbed coins. Usually they are ugly assed toners though, not that I hate nicely toned coins. If it can cross even 2 Sheldon points lower than what's on the slab, I stole it.:p That being said, it's a horrible strike. Girly man strike!

This is a tough one with those pics... O mint morgans are known for weak strikes and what I can see of the eagles breast vs liberty's hair fully support a weak strike. That said... there is a fair amount of chatter across libertys cheek and a few in the obverse fields. the reverse however is very clean.
icg graded so I'd call it MS62..
I do however think ngc/pcgs would return it as AU58.. it's a tough call..

Even at 58, I could get locked up for petty larceny.:p

my 89 o is only xf40 with a very nice strike. I do plan an upgrade at some point but as you suggest, price rises sharply from AU50 and higher :D

MS 63 is my guess but the photos are a bit challenging to interpret.
