When we had the AI meltdown last week, I joined some Facebook coin forums to fill the void. That place is full of both the clueless and arrogant snobs. Count your blessings!
I tried joining several groups on Facebook, what a zoo. An absolute non-stop posting of non-existent "errors". Maybe 1 in 100 posters actually have some interest in collecting, I try to focus on these and give advice and ignore the constant, should I get this graded? Where can I sale this? [ always sale not sell for some reason], the argumentive "rare" coin posters, etc. etc. On some of them the admins are as bad as the posters! I never did find one where you could actually have a discussion on coins!
Holy Crap he lives!!! (sorry Peter had to do it been a while since we've seen you post) As for facebook coin groups well l.cutler covered it pretty well. There used to be 2 other good groups NumisSociety (Which started as a spin off of CT... Well their servers died recently and to expensive to rebuild so is gone now) and "coinhelp" (which is still around but I got sick of all the ad's and forum setup was cluggie so i not go there much anymore) So yeah CT is about it now.. of course there are also the PCGS and NGC forums but I tend to not care for the attitudes most of their members seem to have. That and those 2 focus on slabbed coins mostly with little talk of raw items...
I never joined facebook or twitter or the others. Not judging people by their looks has always been a lot easier for me to say and believe than to actually do. So the second I saw zuckerberg it was: don't hang from anything important waiting on me.
I was just bored and missed this place. I don't comment much over there on the coin groups but do get a lot of laughs reading them.
i used to post a lot on CU and CCF but both pissed me off for different reasons, haven't even looked there in years. NGC I still drop in; the moderation improved and a few people who clogged up every thread just to hear themselves talk are gone. I killed FB when that whistleblower stuff came out a few years ago. The BCCS group had good stuff and none of the nonsense so I've missed some things I'm sure, but overall it was a cesspool. CT fits the bill for me.
