Found out from my 23 year old that he was interested in collecting all the state quarters.

back in 2019 I bought a full set of state quarters, which is his now.
Also gave him two other things I bought in multiples in 2019.

it took nearly 10 years but finally one kid has an itch to coin collecting. Of course giving him a complete set removes the search and find but he wasn’t really searching, so we’ll see.

I remember I did a coin collecting thing for the cub scouts years ago for one of those patches.

My wife got this for me one Christmas and I loved it, especially good for novice collectors.

ironically in a roundabout way kinda woke me back up as well, i found a Puerto Rico quarter that didn't quite look right the consensus was it was plated and not very well at that -- after that i just went into full gear collecting after many years of little interest

I have to chat with him more to see his areas of interest. I have nearly every era of US coin going back to the colonies, so we'll see what he's interested in.

If he wants to looks through pennies I have jars and jars and also pennies I rolled going back to the early 1970s that who knows what is in those.

I’ll tell you this just to help encourage you…… I live cross country from my daughter and grandkids and don’t get to see them nearly enough. Fifteen years ago on a visit I gave each grandkid a silver dollar. What I didn’t know is that started a little spark in my grandson. The boy started working and everything he earned, he bought coins with. Even a few gold bullion coins as well. I didn’t even know this was going on until 5-6 years ago when he called me to ask about buying a coin! He has a first class coin shop just a few miles from his house. We went and made best buddies with them and I call each year on his birthday to give them my CC number so the boy can go get a birthday coin…… Now I have seven grandkids, five nephews and three great grandkids. Each one has gotten a silver dollar from me at one time or another. It only fired the imagination of my grandson….. You just never know when that seed will take root and it sure is a good feeling when you find out that it did!
