After staring at coins all day, you notice details other people may not. Today's challenge is a close-up section from a well-known U.S. coin. The question is simple: What coin am I looking at? No reverse image searches. No cheating. Just your eyes and your numismatic instincts. I'll reveal the full coin tomorrow.
I won't say cuz I cheated after I came up with my answer... i.e. I thought it was one thing but then talked myself into another, went to my coin stash to see if I was right about that one. I wasn't so I then did the reverse search (I don't think I have an on-hand coin of this one) and lo and behold, my first thought was the right one. Good luck to the others who do this. Don't cheat. PS I think if anyone here is more familiar with this coin, i.e. collects it, they will get it. Nice pic.
Understand that I collect world coins. My eyes first said a France 1 Franc or German Pfenning but then my brain said that is probably the I in AMERICA.
