    Not for me. Unless it has a good story around it, it would not grab me.

    It looks to be Mint State, and it must be certified to get people to play huge bucks for it. Believe it or not, NGC is more influential in this area. I’ll start a discussion about expense tokens and medals later.

    It looks like an example sold at Heritage Auctions in 2021. I don't have an account, so I can't see the actual price, but ChatGPT tells me it went for $1,080.

    Now I understand. It is noted that this Civil War token is issued by an African-American merchant. That drives the price way up. Tokens issued by or for African-American or African-American related merchants are very expensive.

    Civil War sutler tokens are, as a group, scarce and expensive. If it is a sutler who supplied goods to an African-American unit, the value can go to a 5 figure price.
