Thanks for the detailed photos. I had missed the intricate work in the ceiling in your first post. Rushing to look what was next, I guess? I'll try to be more careful in the future. Whoever the engraver was, was good! It is beautiful work. Thanks again.
It's so hard to choose three. But these three are among my current favorites. Fifty Cent Standard Silver Pattern,1870, J-961 Prf 64 Cam. Pine Tree, Three Pence no pellets. F-15 Japan. Koban 1860-67, AU-53 Added currency bonus. This is one of my favorite National Bank Notes.
Enjoying this thread. My personal favorites at this moment if I'm forced to: 1. First year, 1834 $2.5 Classic head, NGC MS-62 2. Last year, low mintage, 1889 gold $1 PCGS MS-66+ (toned) 3. Well struck (5/5) and centered Greek Owl Tetradrachm- NGC AU Runners up- my favorite toned Morgan (appears in hand exactly as in photo) and a 1937-D Oregon Trail PCGS MS-66 picked up at the same show as the Morgan several years ago. All photos taken by me.
This pic got lost in the translation. It is my all time fav. The other which are in an earlier post are a 1908 St. Gaudens no motto double eagle and an 1853/2 double eagle. This one is VF-35 w CAC. I think it's worthy of a gold bean - The reverse is really lovely, the obverse is almost as good and way better than VF35 in my view.
For me it's 3 coins on my "I'll never sell them" list: 1986-S Statue of Liberty half dollar: I'm the original owner of this and it always reminds me of my early days in coin collecting. Still take this out to look at often. 2005-W 1/10 oz American gold eagle: Got this as a Christmas gift from my parents and it's still one of the gifts I was most excited to get, because I was not in any way expecting it. 2000 UK silver 1 pound, Welsh dragon: Hard to explain this one, but it just had one of the highest "cool factor" of a coin I saw and bought. Honorable mention I guess: The coolest coin I just found, instead of one that was given to me or I bought, would be one I found recently, a 2020-W Tallgrass Prairie/KS quarter, because I was not expecting to ever find a W quarter (I was "faked out" so many times when I thought I found one, and didn't find one until the point I had almost given up looking!). But I've not owned it long enough for it to get in the top 3 lol, but it would be a pretty close 4th for now.
