I don't get how these sellers get the prices they're asking, seems like there was a time when sellers realized they were selling a coin that's ruined, so they had to ask for less money, not anymore. It's only 4.1 grams of 22k gold, Coinflation price comes to right around $545! The asking price here is $895.95 it's nuts, am I missing something! https://www.ebay.com/itm/127840837785
There is a difference between being "ruined" and "being transformed into something else". Well crafted, original love tokens are wildly popular and will always sell for a premium over the straight price of the coin. Seeing them on gold coins is even more uncommon because of the intrinsic value of the coin. Yes. The colorization, if original, is extremely unusual. I don't follow love tokens as closely as @lordmarcovan , but to see a colored gold love token like this seems quite rare.
Yep, I always forget the saying, "one man's trash is another man's treasure", plus it's easy to see these were engraved way before Dremel tools! Here's one I bought a couple of years ago for a good price but I had to have the loop fixed, see I have nothing against them, just the high prices!
