Yesterday I nabbed a buy-it-now 1856 large cent in AU for 99 cents plus shipping. 2 minutes later, message from seller saying he meant to list it as an auction (which I knew) and gladly let him off the hook.
Yep. Only once did I get a coin that I won for 99 cents on buy-it-now. Was a 1921 BU Morgan. One other time the seller called me and gave me a deep discount on a large cent. I think he said he'd sell it to me for what he paid (which was cheap). Every other time I've sniped one of those 99 cent buy-it-now's, the seller reached out and said he couldn't do it, which is fine. I understand.
in the description it states "AUCTION ESTIMATE $975" so probably a typo. I need to scour ebay more though ....
If the dealer makes a mistake an lists the item for that price buy it! Pay for it quick and see if it gets shipped. It's worth a shot. The dealer's mistake could be our gain unless he or she catches it in time.
Very admirable of you. I've reached out to sellers to tell them they had errors in their listings (nothing that sniping would've made me much money). I always keep my eyes out for a good purchase.
But when it doesn't show up in the mail, and you file a claim with Paypal, you get your money refunded and the seller just sits on it for a few months and relists.
